Abstract
Objective: The study aims to verify the effectiveness of the online self-management program for anxiety known as ¡®Maum Touch Green,¡¯ and to analyze the causes of dropouts. Based on such results, the primary purpose is to secure more users and increase the completion rate by supplementing the program, as well as to establish an objective basis for operation. Moreover, it is intended to set the cornerstone for the development and operation of future online-based programs in the field of mental health.

Methods: This study analyzed the data of 1,982 users of ¡®Maum Touch Green¡¯ from January 2018 to April 2020 using the statistical package PASW (SPSS) 18. A frequency analysis was performed on the socio-demographic characteristics, dropout-related items, program satisfaction, and factors that cause dropout at each session. Also, a cross tabulation analysis was conducted on the dropout rate according to gender, age, educational background, and experience with the psychiatric treatment. A paired t-test was used to evaluate the efficacy of the program. To compare the initial anxiety symptoms and subjective improvement of the ability between groups, an independent t-test was conducted.

Results: It is found that a female in her 20s with a college graduate who works in the field of additional industry and cohabits with her family in Seoul, who has no experience in psychiatric treatment, mainly uses the Maum Touch Green through the internet search. Although there is no difference in whether or not the program is completed according to the socio-demographic characteristics of the user, it is indicated that an experience with psychiatric treatment has an effect on the completion of the program. For the analysis result of the average difference between the pre- and post-scores on the state-trait anxiety inventory state (STAI-S) of those who complete the program, the average value is significantly reduced, and the program is found to be effective in reducing the degree of anxiety in participants. The degree of the initial
anxiety symptoms of those who drop out of the program are higher than the ones that complete the program, and the degree of the subjective improvement of the ability in dropouts are lower than that of those who complete the program. In addition, it is uncovered that there is a positive shifting in cognition and behavior of the participants, and a positive evaluation is made in whether to apply in their daily life as well as in the degree of help in performing the assignment.

Conclusion: Based on these findings, it is indicated that ¡®Maum Touch Green¡¯ is an effective ¡®online-based self-management program for anxiety¡¯ in reducing anxiety. It is necessary to develop various strategies to supplement the program through analyzing the factors that cause the dropouts and increase the completion rate by emphasizing the advantage of the online-based program. Also, based on such outcomes, it is our greatest hope to create a healthy culture in which people can manage their mental health on their own.
